I don't think veterans would necessarily mind a thank you, but it's important to them to remember the fallen first and foremost.

Honest question, why don't we celebrate cops with national holidays?
I mean military and police force are both volunteer positions, no one makes people sign up for these things.
Both put their lives on the line, cops moreso imo since every day some nut could attack them.
They both complain about the pay and hours
They both wear uniforms
But cops are blasted on TD almost daily while people in the military are honored?

I asked a simple question and instead of letting the op answer he comes in saying what I have to say has nothing to do with the subject. Then the rest of the peanut gallery jumps on in and the usual shite starts off. frick this, like I said, that little smartassed shits don't want a actual back and forth. Either you get in their little circle jerk and agree with everything they say or the usual pack attack and stupid lame insults will be coming.

Any combat soldier that has seen his comrades get shot up, blown up and killed is going to have some residual fall-out from that traumatic event. My guess is that this is what we are seeing when we see such vets get agitated over these issues.
These guys are good people. Folks like them are committing suicide at an alarming rate these days, and NOBODY can figure out why or figure out a way to stop it.
When you look at the whole matter from this perspective, you might find it more easy to give them a pass. They are not having an easy time of things, and, you probably can afford to give them a pass.

What I have noticed, and am doing myself is kindly explaining the difference to people. I get that their hearts are in the right place, but so are the veterans who are trying to make sure the focus this weekend is in the right place.
It makes me uncomfortable on this weekend to have anything made of my service. This weekend is absolutely not about those who served and came home it is about those who paid the ultimate price and if trying to ensure that is the focus hurts you in some way too tricking bad.

What's interesting about these claims is there's like an actual written record of all that has transpired in the posts and replies. And your story doesn't match with what actually happened.
