Has anyone here ever ended up marrying someone after a bad first date?

I'm not talking about things going bad (like bad food, etc.). I'm talking about just not being very interested in the person.
I don't really get the point in going on a second date just in case. If there's no spark, there's no spark. But I'd love a good counter example.

Your date with a yell leader didn't go well I presume?

Yeah my first wife. Ended up getting divorced because I cheated on her. Shouldn't have even married her. Would've saved a lot of trouble for us both

Absolutely.
First date was a blind date and not a good one. Not completely turned away, but no spark. 14 years later, I'm glad I got the second.

I don't know if this counts or not, but my wife and I started dating when I was 22, she was 25. I was working my first real job out of college making a whopping $28K/year and didn't really date a whole lot in college, so I wasn't really used to paying for 2.
When the check came, it was something like $55 and the waiter said "Here's the check, sir." I took 1 look at the bill and said "He better call me sir!" as if that was a lot of money. I'm sure that she was less than thrilled, but it worked out, and today is our 9th Anniversary.

I can't imagine doing such a thing.

I honestly don't want to hear about a gay date.

That's why I avoided personal details. You're welcome.

I don't disagree. But remember, love is a verb. It's a choice. Those big tits will become old hat.

I agree there needs to be a connection that develops, but plenty of strong and lasting relationships don't have this romantic comedy "spark" shite.

These two hung out together for a long time but finally got to know each other after a first date or apple or some other fruit.

Wiser words have probably never been spoken.

Same page. Completely agree.

I will. My first date with my girlfriend was pretty boring, but I didn't have anything else going on the next weekend and her friend wanted us to go out on a double date in Oxford, so I took her out again. It was an excellent decision. Second date was way better/more eventful. We will definitely be getting married one day.

i met my wife by accidentally tackling her in coed flag football. she was super pissed and didn't talk to me for months and said she was avoiding me at social functions.
finally we were at a church retreat where we woke up early and were drinking coffee together and the only ones up at that hour. then i couldn't keep her off the D after she got to know me beyond tackling her.

By the "D" you mean decaffeinated coffee.
You ARE an Aggie.
Two errors on one play to lose a Super Regional.
Great work on the Ole Miss impression.
