Has anybody ever had their AE shoes recrafted? I'm debating doing it.

I've got two pairs of shoes that could use some help. One has some small cuts on them and the soles need to be changed.

The other is just beat to hell and the leather seems to discolored. And soles need to be replaced.

The investment is $150 a pair it seems. Is this something that's worth it? I could just buy two new pairs of shoes at this price. Is there some sort of guarantee behind it?

I'd do it. You paid $400 for the shoes. $150 is the luxury package. You can get new soles and shite for like $75

I'm just concerned they're past the point of return. I guess I could hope for a miracle.

I've re-crafted a pair a replaced the soles with their v-tread because the originals didn't last very long. I'm satisfied with the shoes. I think I paid $125.

I've gotten mine done. You won't be able to buy another pair of shoes the same quality for $150 (I think it's actually only 125). They won't be able to fix deep gouges or cuts, but they will look better for sure. With new soles, and re-finishing/conditioning the leather properly, they look A LOT better. For the pair that is just beat up and discolored, they'll re-condition the upper for like 50 bucks. If you don't really need the soles re-done, no need to drop the 125-150 bucks, just do that.

Well worth it. $150 for two new pairs of shoes means you are buying junk that won't last a third of the length the recraft would last. It's not only better quality-wise, it is financially a better option.

I've done it twice. Like others have said, they won't be able to get rid of cuts and gouges, but it does help with wrinkles and creases.

If it's an old pair of loafers or brougues, do the golf conversion; best $150 I ever spent, and more comfortable than FJ Classics.
