So the wife is having me going mattress shopping this weekend. Been a long while since I last bought a mattress. Any luck haggling prices on these things? And where should I go look around BR?

its worth a shot, just realize the sale price is probably at a 3-4x's markup

I worked at a furniture store a long time ago and the most they would discount was 10%. Do not know if that is the norm or not.

Mattress buying is in the same ballpark as used car shopping.

I love haggling the shite out of mattress prices.

I give those salesmen more hell than when I'm making a car purchase.

Be sure to get a money back guarantee from the company (not a warranty from the manufacturer) if you are not satisfied after a certain time frame.

I can't recommend Capitol Bedding Co. Enough. They manufacture the beds right here in Baton Rouge off of Choctaw.

I purchased a Latex/Foam mattress from them for easily half as much or more as it'd cost going retail.

Their entire staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Had it delivered the day after Thanksgiving, and since he gave all his employees off the owner delivered it himself. Can't beat that.

I can get you very lightly blemished top of the line mattresses for very cheap. Literally nothing wrong except a small stain or tear in the packaging. Let me know if you're interested and I can get you a detailed list with prices.

YES. Just be upfront and ask them what kind of discount they can give you. If you're not happy tell them you're going to keep looking.

Last month I got $100 off on $1600 worth of furniture purchased at a discount store.

All I did was ask.

Call a bunch of places. Different stores usually have different sales on specific brands. Also, try department stores like Sears and Dillard's as well as furniture stores

Mattress shops are worse than used car places.

I was nearly assaulted for walking into a store in a suit. The mattress folks seemed to think I was from another store trying to scout their pricing.

Never going back to those places.
