Haven’t had to do that but when my wife brings my almost two year old daughter for lunch at my office, it’s a train wreck.

Obligatory prayers sent.

She miss her bus/train/ride?

Helpful Parenting Hint:
You are going to mess her up by not making her responsible for her own transportation.

I would never entrust a daycare with an 8 month old. Never

It's an office environment. But yeah, nothing I can really do about it.
Call out, take the day off?

Oh well. Enjoy it as best you can and take some pictures. She won't always be 8 months, and you'll both look back and laugh.

yep, soon she'll be a teen and you'll be starting a thread something like "my teen daughter doesn't want to spend any time with me".

What do you do for a living. The guy in the cube behind me has to bring his 6 year old to work occasionally. She is 100% silent. The first time he did it she walked past my cube after a couple hours and I had no idea she was there. Scared the shite out of me. I thought I was about to be children of the corned

You ever see N's kids under her desk when she brings them in? Scared the hell out of me the first time too.

I was handling a small claim issue last week for a friend and some poor sap representing himself had his small baby in a stroller in court. He was suing BMW for some faulty repair to his car and they didn't even show. He probably had to wait until noon for the judge to let him leave. Four hours in court with a baby in a stroller is somewhere in the bottom reaches of the depths of hell.

Plop 8 month down in front of iPad

You are welcome

8 months old is entirely too young to be plopped down in front of an iPad. Jesus. I know this is extenuating circumstances, but OP just needs to take a day off work.

Under the circumstances, it is his best hope.

Calm down.

That's some restraint right there. I'd have gone with a pregnancy angle.

My first thought as well. I have 10 month old twin girls, and I am terrified of letting them look at our cell phones even. I'm terrified they are going to turn into typical spoiled millennial zombies.
