He did say something to the top twice before the exchange got heated. Once before he was getting in the car. He may have said he was getting his keys.

I can't hear the exchange of words at the beginning, but it is the police officers responsibility to inform the driver that he is issuing him a ticket. The driver doesn't have to assume the ticket is for him and has every right to drive off if he wasn't informed. If he was informed that he was getting a ticket then it's a completely different story.

I can't believe that no one has posted the Chris Rock cop advice video in response. LINK

The bottom line... if you're gonna piss off a cop, you are gonna pay for it.

I dislike cops just as much as the next guy but I believe the cop was in the right here.

Police say that before the amateur began filming, Chabbott grabbed the ticket book from the cop and ignored orders to stay on the sidewalk.

Pratt, who stars on MTV’s “The Hills,” is seen on the video watching, then riding away in the car, driven by a friend.

Chabbott was illegally parked and the Spider had no registration or inspection stickers displayed. The car also lacked a front license plate. He was charged with assault, vehicular assault, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct.

Didn't read the whole thread, but has someone pointed out the spelling of the word "Delt" in the title and topics of interest.

That needs to be dealt with...

I have mixed feelings, both were bad examples of their respective Stereotypes, Douche Elitist versus Douche Traffic Cop

I have't read all of this thread (only on page 3), and I think the douche in the Ferrari was in the wrong. The cop moves in front of his car for two reasons likely. One, to stop him from driving off. And two, it adds a charge if the dude drives into the cop (I'm assuming it does). Smart move by the cop.

Also,

I don't know who you are, but you should definitely post more. Your idiocy is so funny I almost think you're doing it on purpose (but I am hopeful that you aren't, for my entertainment purposes).

Keep up the good work.

Hammertime spends five pages arguing just to point out that everyone can break the law if we want to. Awesome.

The cop was a douche. The driver was a douche.

The cop will likely continue to be a douche as well to innocent law abiding citizens. In this case, the douche cop was less douchey than the driver.

Can't we just agree that I was right and be done with it? Let's act like adults here

hell in some places that would have been assault with a deadly weapon and they could have shot him.

re: Guy in Ferrari Gets Delt with by Ticket COP
The people defending the driver makes me die a little inside.

Let's get real basic here. If you are driving a $200,00+ car (or any car for that matter) you should avoid at all costs hitting ANYTHING. That is just being a responsible car driver and car owner basics. So that makes the driver a complete idiot by itself.

Also, even if there was a misunderstanding and the guy was wrongly getting a ticket that is not the way to handle the situation (which has been brought up by sane people). If the cop listened to your argument for not getting a ticket and was still going to write it you just have to take it and go through the proper channels to get the situation rectified. Does that suck? Yes, Yes it does, but that is the system we all agreed on by living in this country. If you don't like it - good luck living somewhere else.

If I was the cop and giving someone a ticket and they were adamant about leaving and not cooperating, I would assume there is something more to this situation, i.e. car is stolen, linked to a crime, or containing drugs or illegal weapons. That sounds extreme to some people but sounds like responsible police work to me.

Next the "overwhelming" force issue... Just last night I saw on the news a video of a cop in a routine traffic stop and the guy who was pulled over whipped out a gun and shot the cop in the face killing him. An unfortunate reality of the situation is if you aren't following an officers instructions they have every right to take absolute control of the situation for the safety of themselves, others, and the suspect.

And as far as the cop "putting his foot under the tire"... I know there is a whole entrapment angle, but on a moral and ethical standpoint, just because something makes it easier to do something wrong or illegal doesn't make it any better.

That was a perfect situation

Douche gets ticket and car damage

Roid Cop gets a likely suspension and busted up hand

Win/win
