This is one time that I hope the models workout because we need a lot of rain.

For sure. Up here in NWLA, we've had quite a few wild fires lately. Been a crazy weather year up here. Few inches of snow in February, historic flooding in the Spring and now a severe drought leading to wild fires.

lots of rain after drought conditions don't always bring what people think they want.

Selfishly it sure would help our duck hunting. Weird year in N LA where we went from huge floods all winter and spring to huge drought all summer and now into early fall.

really impressive burst of convection off the coast of Belize in the last few hours. has absolutely no bearing on this thing approaching the gulf, but impressive nonetheless.

Does the latest euro model take it towards Louisiana?

The 12z Euro develops a 850 vort max in that area, maybe associated with that burst of convection, it then rotates it inland around the CA gyre. The whole area rotates and drifts NW with an EPAC system and eventually the WGOM system forming. Complex setup that is usually slow to develop but at least this is tropically driven, unlike the last couple of Gulf false alarms.

Cameron Parish next weekend
After the double bitch-slap of Rita/Ike, Cameron can take it, although I don't wish it upon them. Chilling outside on my patio right now, there is an awful lot of wind for a clear, warm October evening.
