This was on the news here tonight. AZ man went 4 wheeling with his granddaughter in his truck. Gets stuck, realizes he doesn't have his phone with him. So he leaves his grandchild by herself under a tree with a loaded gun(cause he says he didn't want to carry the gun). Walks several miles until he comes across a bar/restaurant. Doesn't mention anything about his grandchild until after he had ordered a cheeseburger and drank a few drinks. Then decides maybe he should go look for her.

Nurse, come on, I'm not clicking that link.

Was she alive? Did he find her? Was she hurt when he did?

Good. Kids are too soft these days. You gotta toughen them up somehow.

Child is alive. Grandfather arrested for child abuse.

Just watch the video in the link of him trying to explain to the judge what happened.

Wow. Not that I agree with any of what he did, but why didn't he take out the bullets?

The man thought nothing of eating a cheeseburger and drinking 4 alcoholic drinks before he decided maybe he should go find a 5 year old alone with a gun in the desert.

I'm gonna guess common sense left this man long ago

It's not like it's July. It's quite pleasant this time of the year.

I have a 5 year old niece I am very close to. I cannot imagine just abandoning her in the desert.

Maybe he expected her to hunt for some food. I don't understand why he didn't take the girl with him. He could carry her if she got tired.

I wonder what her parents (his kid) say.

All these self righteous people saying leaving her a loaded gun was so horrible would be singing a different tune if she would have been unarmed and eaten by coyotes.

"Dammit Dad, why you had to go get arrested. Now who are we gonna get to watch her when we want to go out on the weekends??!"

A 5 year old has no chance of fighting off coyotes unarmed.
