If its infected, go get it checked out ASAP.
I had a spider bite on my elbow and waited longer than I should have to go to the doctor. I ended up having to go to urgent care and it took a lot longer than it should have for me to treat it. It had to be drained, I had to take antibiotics, I had to clean it twice a day, etc.

If it's swollen and red you might want to get it check especially if the whole finger is swollen and red otherwise I would just let it work itself out.

I've had that happen to me in the lab with unfinished surfaces of some large radio equipment. I usually run hot water in the cut until I can see part of the sliver and then I use tweezers to pull it out

I've sliced it up with a razor and dig as deep as possible with a safety pin and no dice.

Chances are it's not a tetanus prone wound, unless it was cold metal in a barn, that has fecal contamination from the animals. If it's a hot flake from grinding, it just needs to be removed, and the bigger worry is the Staph on your own skin getting in there.

Because it's way too swollen ATM for me to get anything out and squeezing it anymore is futile

You'll be fine, but if you can't get it out, get in and just let the Doc get it out, and they'll get post X ray removal (most likely pre as well) films to ensure it's out, and antibiotics for 5-7 days. The danger is if it gets infected into the tendon sheaths, and you want no part of that!!!

I'm going to revisit it tomorrow with no alcohol in me. Maybe the ibuprofen will make some swelling go down and I'll dig back in sober.
Also may not bleed as much.
I really don't want to pay for urgent care honestly.

Tried to manhandle an old nasty arse window unit ac. Some aluminum slither slid straight into my right pointer finger. I just kept on trucking for the day drinking and forgot about it until about noon today when I noticed the size of my finger and how it didn't want to bend.
