Got a metal shaving in my finger couple day ago, tetanus shot?

I got a metal splinter in my finger and now it's swollen to the point of it being hard to bend. Like a bad bee or wasp sting.
It's been well over a decade since I've had a tetanus vaccine. Do I need one?
Also the metal shaving went really deep, do I have to just wait/hope it works itself out?

Yes, get a Tetanus shot. Did you get the splinter out? If not you need to get checked out because it sounds like it is infected. A quick X-Ray will show right where it is if in fact it is a metal splinter.

You do realize a cm is almost four tenths of an inch right? You may be exaggerating the depth a wee bit.

I believe you have 72 hours to get it from the time it happened. Sounds like it is definitely worth seeing a doctor.

Possibly. But I know it went deep because initially I tried to squeeze it out and had zero luck.

Yes you need a tetanus shot. Ask for a tdap to protect against pertussis as well(might as well get additional coverage).
And I would get that finger looked at. Leaving it in there sounds like an infection just waiting to happen.
