sent a credit app to our corporate in dallas. i get an email back asking if i know how to spell the name of the street(it was kind of poorly written) but as a cajun i know exactly what it said. i send back the name of the street with a side note saying "no worries most people have trouble with our cajun/coonass names down here". this douche reports me to hr for that saying it derogatory.fricking douchebag.

He was offended that you were using a derogatory term against yourself?
Sounds like a great guy.
I had an employee file an EEOC complaint against me for "discriminating against her cajun ethnicity".
Which was wierd considering that both I and her direct supervisor are of "cajun ethnicity". It was, obviously, eventually dropped. Ain't nobody got type for discrimination against whitey.

Using racial slurs in company emails is always smart.

I nearly got thrown out of a national park on the west coast for the same thing.

Coonass is racist?

Not that I agree with you getting reported, but yeah, you shouldn't use that kind of rhetoric in workplace e-mails. They're your coworkers, not your college buddies.

Keep shite off the emails. You never know who is looking.

What did HR have to say about it?

It's just kind of bad luck that the self deprecating slang for you folks consists of a cuss word and a racial slur put together. Guy is a douche, but prob best to avoid the use in business context.

What kind of a pussy reports that. Like what are you doing with your life if that offends you to the point that you complain to HR about it.

In the corporate world, coonass is racist. Ask me how I know.

Was at a business dinner in VA Beach. Big table of people and everyone is introducing themselves. I say my name and where I am from and some guy at the other end (from Thibodeaux) yells out "All right! A fellow coonass!" You could have heard a pin drop in the room. I had to stand up and give an explanation.
