Google Chromecast: Anyone Try Setting Up a Second Device?

I first connected it through my iPhone and now want to connect using my laptop. I can't figure out how to get the setup screen back on the tv, though.

TIA

you dont need to. just install the chrome chromecast plugin and you will see the "connect" box near the customize tab if a chrome cast is on the network

Setting up through a device is just to get Chromecast on the WiFi, right?

i guess my computer/internet is too slow. i can't stream anything without it chopping up every 2 seconds.

Has a lot do with your router speed too. Any idea what you have?

Will any router really allow for solid mirror streaming? I haven't heard positive results.

What kind of download speed do you get on speedtest?

I have shitty wifi (best DSL in my area, I hate Comcast like Ramrod hates apple) I only get 6mbps but have 14 devices and stream amazon and Netflix fine.

Had the same problem and it was my wifi signal. Apparently my router was too far away. Got a $39 wifi booster and it works like a champ now.

I think certain apps have been modded to handle Chromecast, maybe? YouTube looks incredible while firstrowsports is unwatchable. Haven't tried Netflix yet.

it is probably your computer. Is it an old computer with an old video card? my old laptop streams very shitty but when connecting to it, chrome alerted me that my computer wasnt up to par.

There isn't a firstrowsports app...
Netflix is flawless though

You should try a MacBook.

If you do get a wifi booster, do a little research first.

My router/gateway is from ATT and says and appears to be made by Netgear.

I got a netgear extender and it didn't work worth a crap. In fact it screwed my network up even more.

A quick google search on the problem revealed that actual router is made by Westell.

Yea, mine said Netgear all over the box and even molded in the plastic casing.

My advice, write down the model number and jog up to a radio shack to avoid the crowds at best buy and ask for a compatible extender.

Also, i appear to be on cox preferred tier(up to 25 MBPS) so will Cox be throttling my internet too much to keep a wifi extender from even helping run the chromecast smoothly?
