Looks like my A/C is finally going to shite out on me. My guy told me to start budgeting for it when he serviced it back in February. I was hoping to make it through the summer.

I'll need a new 4-ton hvac unit. Hopefully no duct work. What should I expect?

About $8,000?

Dayton Heating and Air. Primarily sell Rheem and Lennox.

9 years running on my 2 Rheems and no issues whatsoever - I get them checked annually.

My partner at work got quoted Tuesday from 3 places for a new 5 ton condenser (16 seer trane) and air handler for $8,000-$9,000 installed. Hope that helps

I paid $15k for 3 split systems. 2ea-3 tons and 1ea-2 tons. Bought Lennox Elite Series. Included resealing all the duct and adding dampers. I got a discount and would probably have paid 18-19k for similar work.

Depending on what all needs to be replaced, the cost should be around $4500.If you current system doesn't have the newer coolant i would suggest replacing the copper as well.
You can do some looking around online at the prices. We just got a new RUDD system that's doing well so far.

I paid $4500 for a Trane 3 ton 16 seer unit last year with no duct work but he did have to reconfigure my unit upstairs (builder's guys put it in backwards). This is a guy I went to school and played ball with so I trust him.
I'm almost ready to swap out the other 3 ton unit. Hopefully I get the same deal.

Well, I assume once they replace the outside then they'll have to match it with something new on the inside.

I'll be replacing a Goodman that made it about 10yrs. I plan to stay in this house another 5-7yrs. It's a two story, 2200 sq. ft. with only one unit because of the way the house is configured; plus it is old.

Cool. That helps. I trust the guy I use. He is the company pilot's son-in-law. He's done my service work the past two years. He's installed a few units for people around the office. Unfortunately, they're all out today, or I would ask them.
