I have never played golf much but am wanting to get into it. Went to the driving range this morning and hit a bucket of balls and it was pretty terrible. I had a buddy film me in slow motion so I could see what I was doing wrong and the most obvious was opening the club face every time I swing. It was also a challenge keeping the right elbow tucked in close to the body. Do any of the swing aids help with form or should I just pay the money for lessons? Buddy I was with is excellent and gave advice but only so much he can do in one day.

No need to pay for lessons as a complete beginner. Wait at least until your swing feels natural

If you're serious about learning the game, read Ben Hogans book "Ben Hogan's Five Leasons." It will tell you everything you need to know about the fundamentals of the perfect golf swing (ie grip, posture, stance, etc)

From there, go to the range and incorporare everything you've read into your swing. After few months, you should be ready for your 1st lesson.

I'm not a good golfer by any means (shoot in the 90s and just started playing 6 months ago), but try to make your swing more straight up and down rather in a roundabout motion. I Don't mean straight up straight down obvuoisly. I've been hitting the ball better once I videoEd myself and saw my abortion of a golf swing. If you don't follow then disregard this post.

OP, read Ben Hogan's book, and also get on YouTube and search Me and My Golf, and Peter Finch. Both are my favorite YouTube coaches.

And get ready to spend a lot of time and money at the range.

I started 2 years ago and am a 17. Once you understand the fundamentals of the swing, then you'll get an appreciation for thr swing you create.
