Making the trip to Tuscaloosa this weekend. Never played any courses near there. Looking for recommendations on the best courses close to Tuscaloosa or on the way from Baton Rouge. Private or Public.
Thanks guys.

Grand Bear is on the way, but there's quite a few around Birmingham, if you are staying there for the weekend.

Cane Break just outside of Hattiesburg was really nice about 10 years ago. May check that one out.

North River Yacht Club used to be a pretty nice course. It's just north of Tuscaloosa probably 6-7 miles. I haven't played it in 14-15 years but I assume it's still a good course.

The only decent course in Tuscaloosa is Ol Colony. And it's very nice. Give it a try.

This is pretty accurate. If you go a bit farther up I20 to I459, there's Bent Brook which is alright.

Other courses in/around Tuscaloosa:
Hidden Meadows: Wouldn't recommend, unless you're a broke college student

The Links (They may call it something else now, but it also used to be called Mimosa): Very boring, flat, super beginners course.

The Capstone Club: Not terrible, only played it once 8 years ago, bent grass greens were pretty nice.

Tuscaloosa Country Club: Don't waste your time. The course only has a couple nice holes and you have to drive through the ghetto to get there.

Formerly Woodland Forrest CC, now I don't know what they call it: Crappy neighborhood course, poorly maintained

Have you had a bad experience playing Farmlinks?

I haven't played there yet, but been interested in it for a couple years. I've only heard good things and was interested if you've actually played it.

I use to work there when I was finishing up school and just commuting. Really nice course and customer service is great. Not a tough course. Fairways are very wide. Several holes have drastic elevation changes but they give you the playing yardage. They also have a trap and skeet range and do hunts. It's a good place to go and just play but if you can I would recommend getting some friends and staying a weekend.

ETA: Didn't mean to bump this thread. Searched Farmlinks and assumed it was in the other golf thread
