Golf Memberships in Baton Rouge area

Looking in the BR area to join somewhere, considering either the bluffs or the island, junior memberships with cart plan are both about $200 a month before tax. Is there any where in BR I should consider besides UClub? Just looking to get some info and opinions

I haven't been in BR since 2010 but wasnt Santa Maria nice?

It's nice, but it's BREC now. SM does have a Great practice facility over there.
My issue with bluffs is they need to improve practice facility. My concern with island is the absurd traffic coming back into Baton Rouge.

If you're in business it might be worth joining BRCC or Country Club of Louisiana. If I remember correctly, BRCC is pretty tough to get into and they don't offer a junior membership. But if you're young enough for a junior I'd go UC all the way.

I like UC's practice facility and the course is fantastic, I'm just not wanting to pay the initiation fee. I'm in mid-late 20's.

A membership at the Island right now is only $95 per month and that includes all golf, range, and pool.
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger.
Too good of a deal.

The Island right now has $0 initiation fee and is only $95 a month.

Yeah, but then toss in cart plan (or you pay the cart fee) and it comes out to 190 plus tax. Bluffs is $0 initiation fee also

Oh, that's right.
The Island has a great practice facility too.
The only problem is that it's not directly

BRCC does have some type of junior or associate membership that's pretty cheap.

What's the process to become a member? I heard it way tougher than Oakbourne although Oakbourne isn't too bad unless you're dark complected.

It is a very walkable course and golf is meant to be played by walking.
Plus, The Island is the best draining course in the area which is important if you want to play soon after a rain.

Sponsors, they were doing the same membership drive CCL was, I played Oakbourne last Saturday, awesome old school layout where you better hit it straight. CCL was playing firm and fast today, the problem with UClub is tee times and a lot of outside tournament play, CCL or BRCC just walk up and play golf, no such thing as a tee time, CCL is a better golf course than UClub as well.
That's a steal on the Island if you live in BR area or across the bridge, cool track.

Then stick with the island or the bluffs, all of your courses that don't allow public play will always have an initiation fee, some are refundable upon getting out and some aren't.

True, I grew up walking the bluffs so it's not really an issue for me

Well there or the island are the best bets without initiation fees

Ended up signing with the bluffs.
