I wish they'd stop running tournaments and outings at SM honestly. Beaver is a golf course too last I checked.

Probably the LSU course. Debating on early Sat or Sunday, thinking if it rains Friday the course will play slow Sat

Golf in S. Louisiana This Week

No love for the Houstonites? Thats fricked up.

I played Farm D'Allie in Lafayette last weekend and shot a personal best 84 (from silver tees, about 6000 yds). Hoping I can use that as motivation to start getting lower scores at my usual 6500 yds. Playing in a 72-hole tourney in Florida in October so need to get my shite tight.

Out until I see a specialist August 12, can't grip a club with the left hand, was killing me Sunday and has been nagging for a few weeks.

Is it acceptable to use a course's bogey rating to determine a handicap for a tournament? I am messing with the calculator and putting in an 18 index for a slope rating of 137 gives you a 22 handicap for the course. But the bogey rating for that course is 97.2.

It's weird how the index to handicap works. I shoot around 85 at most courses, which makes my index 11. when I apply that to the 137 sloped course, I get a 13 handicap. But given that the rating for a bogey golfer, which I am on the brink of, is over 97, it doesn't make sense.

It is actually in South Arkansas. El Dorado to be exact. Supposed to be a beastly track.

And to continue the conversation with myself: The slope rating of Golf Club of Houston Tournament course, from the tips, is 144. That with an 11 index yields a 14 handicap. One of the courses at my club, from the second tees, has a slope of 129. That applied to an 11 index yields a 13 handicap. Are they trying to tell me that I should only be one stroke worse playing from the tips of a PGA tournament course than I am playing from the blue tees at my club course? Poppycock.

Golf This Week

Now we're talking haha

Playing somewhere around downtown Houston tomorrow afternoon I think. My buddy backed out, so not sure where I'll play.

Have an early morning tee time on Sunday at River Ridge in Sealy, Tx. This is a 27-hole course on the Brazos River. After the recent flooding they had water on 21 of 27 holes. They had to rent special trucks or something to carefully clear the silt off the holes. Now, they have 6 holes open on each 9-hole course so you can get in a whole 18. I haven't been there since the floods so I am interested to see how it looks.
