Check out SeaWorld, the Zoo, or a Padres game. There are also some pretty good beaches too.

Breweries are definitely my thing. Are there any in particular that you would suggest?

La Jolla Shores if you want to try out surfing. Pretty laid back beach and you wont run into local punks.

Rent a jet ski and go out on Coronado Bay. You get to check out the USS Midway up close.

Balboa Park. Eat at Roy's in LaJolla and do some shopping. The zoo, Gaslight District near downtown are a must. Legoland in Carlsbad if you have kids. It's a fantastic area.

If you've got wheels go up to the Safari Park in Escondido. I went to both it and the zoo last year and preferred it more. Zipling over the park was cool as was feeding giraffes and rhinos. All that is extra. The tiger exhibit there is the best I've ever seen. Do a day down at the Midway and all that stuff there, catch a sunset at the hand glider port in La Jolla, I could go on and on.
