Will be flying into Honolulu and then flying to Kuai. Staying in Kuai for a week and Honolulu for three more days.

For those who have been, what are sine things to do?

Eat at my location.

Go to Waimea bay.

Go to the doll plantation, ride the Pineapple Express and get the pineapple sherbert.

Avoid Waikiki.

I'm going next year, but staying at Hale Koa.

How am I going to avoid Waikiki?

I was planning on going to Pearl Harbor, then sitting on the beach for 6 days - what's wrong with my plan?

It's just really, really commercialized. More than any other beach side city I've ever been to. It's disappointing because it take away from the complete natural beauty that is Hawaii. You'll have a great time, but try to rent a car and ride up to the north shore for a day or two. It takes less than 2 hours (joy riding) to loop around the entire island, so you get that it won't take you forever to get there.

Anyway, waimea bay is the best beach I've ever been to. Huge bolder to jump off of. Sandy beach is the second. Be careful in the water at sandy beach. It's nicknamed break neck beach for a reason.

Sea life park is pretty cool.

Sharks cove is some of the best snorkeling available in the world.

Kayak to chinamans hat.

Hike the stairway to heaven.

Eat at Teds Bakery.

Eta: you'll be staying just a block of two from Arnold's Bar and Grill. Great place. It's a very local and low key establishment. I recommend drinking there a couple evenings while listening to some local artists.

First three things that come to mind that I did in Kauai was visit Koloa Rum Company (free tasting), take a catamaran to see the Na Pali coast, drive up the Waimea Canyon.

It's probably too late to make changes, but I wouldn't spend 3 weeks on Oahu.

What do you like to do man?

It houses the state capital of Hawaii, it's a paradise, it's a WW2 historical site. It has rich culture and heritage. There are unlimited amounts of things to do.

If you are a get money get bitches type of guy though what you will want to do will differ from what a fanny pack type of guy wants to do.

Yeah - I want to rent a Jeep and circumnavigate the island - as G-d intended.

We just took a hawaii trip recently. Stayed in kona for 4 days and maui for 3. We had some friends that live in kona and really enjoyed the big island. Maui was cool too, except for the mudslide that stopped us on the way home from hana.......I was driving white knuckled at night around the backside of the island
