Any of you fine folks have a new Canyon? If so, how do you like it? I don't need a full size truck. I just need it for occasional light trailer towing and most importantly, decent mpg.

2016 SLT here 24k miles. I love it. Only weakness is the 6 speed tranny, I heard the 8 speed on the 2017 is much smoother.

Avg 22 mpg on my work commute.

I've had mine for about 4 months now. It's been great. I had a Yukon before so I scaled down as far as interior space, but it's plenty roomy.

Driving 90% city I'm averaging 19 mpg. On the highway it's usually 23-24. That's with the gas motor. I honestly don't think the diesel is worth the premium price upfront and at the pump. It only tows 500lb more I think.

Really my only gripe so far is a rattle in the passenger door panel. Apparently it's an issue with the bose stereo. I've read its a pretty easy fix, just haven't taken it in yet.

Yes, I do find it hesitates to downshift if I'm in traffic around 30 mph

Keep in mind that its the exact same truck as the Chevy Colorado.

I didn't fully realize this until I asked to test drive a Colorado and then a Canyon back to back. I felt dumb.

Great truck overall. I have the All Terrain edition and love it. The only thing I don't care for is the Intellilink system. Too many bugs.

I almost bought a Colorado (Chevy, same as Canyon) in December but instead went with a Tacoma because of the features and reputation. I think either the Canyon or Colorado was rated top mid level truck in 2015/16, Tacoma held that award for previous 10 years or so. You'll be fine towing a boat or little travel trailer but make sure to get the 6. MPG are pretty solid on the Canyon as well.

V6 Tacoma and Colorado/Canyon go for about the same price, $32000 +/- pending on which bells and whistles you want.

Bought mine in Houston and was going to buy it for my nephew.
It is just a cool little truck and I rarely splurge on myself. Mine has a street package and it is fun to put around in.
Reminds me of the old S-10's or S-15's with vortex v-6.
After driving it I kept it for myself.
I paid $27k and the same package here would cost around $32k.
I had mine a 1-1/2 years and only have 6,000 miles.
It is a little weekend cruise around town truck.
Tows a small aluminum boat fine.
I like that my wife feels comfortable driving it.
If you are a person that drives mostly around town, once in a blue moon tow a small boat, and gets a few pcs of lumber to do small jobs around the house this is a great truck for you.

I cannot say how it hauls lumber since I use my F150 for my weekday work truck.

They don't budge on the price on these trucks. I guess they do not have the rebates.
