Can someone give me some details about grand slam. I am familiar with usssa and how it's run, but have been hearing about grand slam.
How do the two compare cost wise?
Are grand slam tournaments available throughout the entire state as much as usssa?
What are other similarities and differences?
I know this thread will get slammed with people saying they both suck, are both about money, and are both horrible for the kids etc etc. Just hoping for one or two knowledgeable people to shed some light hopefully.
Thanks.

Grand Slam > USSSA
however USSSA is still the primary in this state as of now but that is quickly changing.
USSSA is shitting the bed and there are a lot of teams that are shifting their participation towards Grand Slam.

That's why I'm asking. I've coached a team in usssa for the past two years and was interested in learning more about gs. All I've seen is Baton Rouge area though. Is that where it's primarily located, or is it stacked with multiple tournaments in the Lafayette area as well? Is the pricing if the two the same?
And what is it that makes GS greater?

Serious answer. Both are similar. Usssa seems to have some better facilities locked down, but GS did add Cypress Mounds to their locations. Both play at the new park in Hammond. I think GS games are a little bit longer(time wise). My observation this year is The GS umps are better. The thing I like about GS is the team gate fee. The team pays $150 gate fee for the weekend. That averages or to about $15 per kid. Usssa usually charges $6 per person per day. Other than that they are very similar. Chops does do a good job at his events with vendors and things for the kids.

Grand Slam cost more for the team to enter but there is no charge at the gate.
The only two places we've played GS tourneys is Baton Rouge and Hammond. Not sure if they host tourneys at any other parks but I know a few parks around New Orleans that are interested.

Perfect Game is about to enter the youth baseball fray. They will eventually dominate the market.

USSSA games are 1 hr 25 min vs GS 1 hr 40 min. GS championship games are 6 inning no time limit. GS umps are much better and they pull them all the way from Florida, Ga and Bama. Always cool and easy going.
USSSA plays by USSSA rules and GS plays by MLB rules as well as the innings per pitcher differ. I think USSSA can only pitch 3 on Sat or 6 per weekend and GS can pitch 8 the entire weekend no limit on Saturday.
ETA: USSSA pitchers can pitch over 3 on Saturday but if they do they are burnt for Sunday.

GrandSlam does not use team gate fees at Cypress Mounds, so everyone has to pay to get in and the tournaments are 100 more there
Also GS only uses 2 divisions not 3 like usssa
We have had good and bad umps in both orgs really just luck of the draw

Not quite GS is HS rules with modifications and USSSA is mlb with mods

This weekend will be our first GS at CM. Thanks for that info.
Also, GS doesn't keep track of power, points or rosters. However that's going to change really soon I have a feeling.
They really need to upgrade their website and teams database if they really want to compete with USSSA.

High school rules are pretty much MLB rules, right?
