Long story short:

Was in a wreck a few days ago and am driving a rental.

GF gets flat tire, has to go to funeral, so I let her take my rental. She is not an "authorized driver". (stupid I know).

Car spins out on interstate and hits my GF. Totally other cars fault. Rental has minor damage, still drivable.

From what I understand I am liable for all damages to the car since I let an unauthorized driver drive, even though I had rental insurance. But what I'm trying to figure out is, isn't the driver that hit my GF liable for those damages?

What course of action should take? Apparently I'll be put on a "no rental" list since I let her drive unauthorized, but what damages will I (or GF) have to pay if any?

You're probably going to have to sue the driver of the other vehicle. But they aren't going to quickly agree to pay since the argument will be that had you followed the rules of the contract, the rental wouldn't have even been on the road.

Too cheap to pay the extra $5-10/day to add them.

She's authorized if you have her permission.

But

It's the other cars insurance that will fix the rental. I'm sure they were ticketed for failure to maintain, or something similar.

I'll need pics of girlfriend to be sure and suggest more courses of action to take

Fix flat tire. The end.

Even shorter story with happy ending. Hell, for fixing her flat you would have probably had a shot at a real "happy ending".

You chose the cheap lazy way out. Now you're gonna get fricked, and not in the good way.

Yeh, pics, dammit!

Pretty much, just didn't think there was a reason to add her. Plus I don't know how long I'm gonna have the rental, could be weeks, it adds up.

Hopefully your GF got all the other persons insurance information. Give that to the rental company and see if they will go through that persons insurance.

Flat tire was fixed, although a donut. It was a 2 hour drive. Wasn't letting her drive 4 hrs on a donut.

The at fault driver is responsible for paying. And if the damages were minor, that driver's insurance is not going to waste resources going to court.

Talk to the rental company and their insurance should go after the at fault driver.
