From the Riverwalk this afternoon, we're leaving the parking garage and we get back on Poydras (how we came in) and saw signs for 1-10. Great. Keep driving, keep driving, keep seeing signs for 10, but the only ramp we see is for W to Baton Rouge. I knew there wasn't a direct ramp to 10 since we had to exit off on 235B coming in, but I figured I would have at least been directed to an eventual route to E, but nothing. We pretty much did a loop and ended up on Claiborne which eventually led us back to 10.

Did I miss some signs or should we have gone a different route? Got annoyed because I didn't think I saw anything that indicated we were headed to just I-10 W, but it was raining and it's possible I just didn't see it.

ETA "Possible" probably not the right word: advisable?

From my limited experience with that area, I was thinking before we left "find Business 90 N" and I would eventually find it. The I-10 signs gave me false hope.

With it being that close to the interstate, I wasn't expecting it to be that difficult to find my way back.

But if you were at the river walk, you should have went right down to 90 and then got on 10

Yes you can. You have to take the road under the service roof and loop after Tulane. Or just take poydras to Roberts (side street by the supper dome). It Ts with Tulane and then you take a left and you are at the on ramp for 1-10 E. Or you can take the road under the interstate all the way to treme and there is another I-10E ramp. Hope that makes sense

you have to go right on Claiborne off Poydras or

turn left off Poydras(on say Loyola) earlier and get up on the expressway

Again, seeing the 1-10 sign, generic as it was, made me think I could just go the way I came.

I don't go there often enough to really know the best ways in and out. I probably won't need this knowledge again, but you never know.

I saw that turn and thought about it for a second, but was trusting the signs.

The signs in New Orleans are mere guidances, not to be taken too rigidly. Same with the lines on the road.
