I'm 26, so they say the older you are the more it hurts, more complications, etc. just wondering if anyone has had them out at my age or close to it?

Won't lie, it's brutal. Had mine done at 27. Just a really bad sore throat that doesn't go away. Take the pain meds every 4 hours as scheduled whether you are hurting bad or not.

Had mine out at 32. No issues and didn't take any pain meds. Eating just sucked for a week or so.

I got mine done at 22. It did suck, but I used to get sick everytime the seasons changed. That's been over 10 years and I think I might have been sick once since then that wasn't alcohol induced.

I had the same issues, but I would also get tonsils stones. Those are a fricking disgusting nightmare. I'm ready to get these things outta my head.

Had mine taken out with robotic surgery at age 36. Took a half dose of my pain med every 6 hours and made sure to gargle with Hydrogen Peroxide EVERY time I ate something. Had very little pain, but I did miss work for two weeks because I just felt out of it.

Chicken noodle soup
Potato soup
Throat ice packs; multiple as to swap them out.
I was on liquid Vicodin. Burned like a bitch going down so is I would chase with Powerade.
Wife bought me a ps4. shite sat in the box the entire time as I slept 18-20 hr days.
Orange sherbert. Ice cream has dairy which thickens the mucus. Sherbert probably does too but I ate a crap ton.
I drank milkshakes too although not easily as it hurt to suck if it was too thick
Crap ton of cough drops
Chloraseptic
iPad

It still sucked big time. Disclaimer mine was a UP3 + adnoid+ tonsil, and I am not a doctor.

Ohh I forgot slushies from Sonic and a humidifier. Humidifier helped a lot.

My bad. I've had strep a ton of times, which cause me to have cryptic tonsils. Bacteria has gotten in there and created the tonsil stones.. I've had them on/off for about a year and they've been treated with antibiotics. My new ENT put me on my last round of antibiotics and said if that doesn't get rid of all the bacteria then we'll take the tonsils out. Today was my follow-up after the course of antibiotics and now they're coming out.

Tldr?

The taste and essence in your throat will live on with you until you can no longer remember.

Frick, it is one nasty taste. Have nothing real to do for the next week at least.
