Those menacing kids did indeed do something wrong. They walked on his lawn. LMAO.

The PT was trying to make these nerds with backpacks into gang members. They also said the kid said he was going to shoot him. He clearly says he is going to sue him. This off duty cop will be investigated.

No one has been able to answer the question of why this off-duty cop was dragging the kid back onto his lawn. The other kids were not menacing or threatening him but simply trying to get him to release the kid. They finally had enough of doing nothing and then bum rushed him as he continue to drag the kid onto his property. That's when the dumb cop pulls out a gun and it goes off either purposely or accidentally.

Unfortunately for you we still allow citizens arrest in this country(he was off duty). The kids tried to assault him and he protected himself. I'm not going to get in a back and forth with you because your mind is made up just like mine, but your post is flat out silly. Plus it looked like accidentally discharge to me.

You conveniently left out that he was already assaulting another kid

Detaining someone is assault? I'm sure in your mind it is.

I'm a pro cop guy mostly, but this is reaching. This is literally the "get off my lawn" a-hole. Guy has a lot near a school? Cop put himself in a no win situation. Assholes do that all the time.

Was he detained after an assault of the off duty officer or just after he disrespected the man for being on his lawn?

Trespassing is a crime as well as assault so I'm not sure where you are going with this.

A normal, sane person doesn't detain someone for walking on their fricking grass.

Exactly. This guy is a cop yet is so thin skinned that he blows up over some punk 13 y/o making a half assed threat? Then NDs a hand gun in the process, which is by far the worst part. Guy clearly shows he mentally cannot be a cop. No discretion or situational awareness.

Was his property "posted"? Did he request that the trespasser vacate his property? Did the alleged trespasser comply?

If it was indeed trespassing and the alleged trespasser did not comply then anybody, not just a LEO, can make an arrest or force a removal in that situation. Where it might go wrong for the officer is in the presentation of the weapon.

uh, he was detaining him because he threatened to 'shoot him'. You can clearly hear the kid saying "I didn't say that"

So a normal, sane person wouldn't say that he was being detained for walking on his yard

Actually, if the cop was a regular citizen then he would be charged with battery as he grabbed a person for walking on a lawn then tried to pull that person onto his property. The kid demanded release for quite a while. I wouldn't have waited so long seeing as it appears an old guy is trying to drag me into his yard (maybe to shoot me as it turns out). Kid gets tired after being battered and his friends use force to get him free.

Cop, being a cop and unused to anyone denying his AUTHORITIE, pulls a gun and it maybe accidentally goes off in the best of circumstances and on purpose in the worst.

The officer escalated the situation till the point of deadly force. You can say the kids pushed him but it was only after he restrained the kid for a long arse time.

And frick a citizen's arrest excuse. If some dude grabs me and starts pulling me to his house yelling "citizen's arrest" I'm going to punch him in the face like EVERYONE else would do.

Kids were probably being douchey, but only when dealing with a cop will bootlickers on the internet allow "doucheyness" to be a punishable crime

He said I will sue you. When he said he did not say that he was talking about him and some girl calling each other something.

The way the law reads, if you know they are a Police Officer and believe they are performing there sworn duty, then it can be charged as battery on a Police Officer. Now, doesn't mean the DA won't throw it out.

The big question is what led up to this situation?
I seriously know this guy and something must have ticked him off.

Are these people protesting the fact that these kids were never taught respect or to stay off of someone's property if asked not to be on that property?

We have people defending these kids saying the property owner asked for it by living near a school and that kids do this all the time.

Why do kids do this all the time? Maybe bc we have moms out defending them and protesting instead of parenting
