Gearing up for Metro Council meeting tonight on police residency requirements

Metro Councilwoman Chauna Banks says she’s confident a controversial measure requiring Baton Rouge Police Department hires to live within East Baton Rouge Parish will advance to a public hearing at today’s council meeting.
quote:
The measure, which was blocked from being introduced at the council’s last meeting on July 27, will be up for debate and a possible vote today. Banks estimates that 80% of the feedback she’s received internally and externally has been in favor of the residency requirement, which the police department and its union oppose.
quote:
Anybody who votes against this, they’ve got to be checked,” Banks says. “We have to look at them and say, ‘Where is the hypocrisy in you?’”

No, there are only 12 or 13 council members.
I believe it was voted down 5-4 with several members absent.

Only because it would have been required that police officers live within the city limits.
This time, BR PD officers can live within the parish. So it will pass easily ...

If the police department is so shitty why would you want to lessen the number of applicants they can choose from? If they want more blacks they should just say so.

Cops can't afford to live in the city outside of her shithole, ghetto community. They also can't afford to send their kids to private school because her constituents have ruined the public school system beyond repair. On top of that, cops hate living where they work, because the waste of human flesh that votes these hyphenated retards onto the council coukd possibly target one of the officers that has previously arrested him/her.
TL;DR: Go frick your self and the people that voted you in, Chauna Banks and everyone who is retarded enough to vote for this shite.

The most terrifying thing is that, just like the Supreme Court, we're only one or two more democrats away from these idiots getting every stupid idea they please passed.

I think the vote was close and could have a different outcome if all members are present

It's insulting after three (hopefully not four) Livingston Parish residents died protecting these morons. Hell, three of the LEOs shot graduated together in 1994 from Denham Springs High.

Their belief is that these officers are not connected with the city and the residents that reside in the areas in which they patrol.
They want community policing. Or should I say, they want more black police officers because there is an unspoken belief that a black police officer will use better judgement and/or be more lenient in his/her decision making process.

They must think more black officers would be on the force with residency restrictions
