You're assuming that there are not absurd regulations put on by the Feds. Refineries can only process so much oil for gasoline. We aren't exactly building new ones.

Gas prices make no sense, oil price is in the tank but gas prices havent followed. I guess gas companies know we will pay no matter what so why drop the price.

IF this were true why did gas drop from $3.85-$4.00 to where it is today? If they know we will pay no matter what they are sure giving up a lot of money.

A number of things are contibuting to supply and demand a few are:
- recent pipeline leak
- Shell has shutdown some operations in Nigeria
- there has been a larger than expected draw down on oil inventories as well...

At 17 cents a gallon, and an average of 15 gallons per vehicle, oil field workers should be able to afford one more pair of truck nutz every 15.2 cars that fill up

A barrel of oil price and the price of gas never sync up, which is why a lot of people like me are skeptical when people say "there isn't that much profit being made by anyone".

Well only about 50% of each barrel of oil is used for gas in the US. So synchronization is not going to happen.
