This neighborhood in New Jersey was shaken up when a garbage truck's natural gas tank exploded in the middle of the street. Debris flew out like missiles into homes while the fire melted the sides of other homes nearby. Firefighters were quick on the scene to rescue people whose homes were caught in the crossfire. Luckily, no one was seriously injured during the explosion.

Glad to see no one got hurt. I thought that someone would have surely died in that explosion.

In other news:
No word on the driver or dude hanging off the back of the truck.

what's the natural gas tank for? is that what the engine runs on?
Posted on 2/2/16 at 12:46 pm to Tigeralum2008
I'll never look at those cigarette trash receptacles that are billowing smoke the same way ever again.

maybe the crusher and lifter thingies.

ahh. was thinking they used a natural gas engine that was cleaner and "safer".

Could be the engine. Probably is the engine actually. Many public service vehicles use natural gas for fuel. It is very popular with busses for instance.

They are cleaner and generally thought to be safer. When the vehicle is already on fire if imagine all bets are off.
ETA: Safer might need the wrong word, but they're thought to be AS safe as traditional fuel.
