Anyone have experience with this? My wife had hers out yesterday and a ERCP to get additional stones today. Any idea on recovery time? Dr has done a poor job explaining the recovery aspect.

Keep a good eye on her. It's not as simple as some suggest. Torn or cut bile duct is always possible. It happened to my wife. I almost lost her.

I had the exact same procedures done. removal on monday, ercg on tuesday, by sunday i was boarding a cruise ship for vacation.

it'll take her a little bit to understand her new bodily functions (e.g. shitting 15-20 minutes after every meal for a while, etc) but all in all it hasn't effected my life one iota.

We have a 3 week old son that spent his first few days in a NICU too. Most bittersweet month of my life so far.

They have said little risk to develop any issues in the pancreas or liver. Hoping she improves quickly.

I just had mine taken out. I'm sure if there were some complications it could be rough, but mine was a simple in and out. Was hurting a little for 3-4 days but that's it. They told me I could eat whatever I wanted, go back to work whenever I wanted, and do whatever I felt like I was able to do.

Of course your body will have to adjust and tell your wife to stay around a bathroom for a while after she eats. Everything comes right out of you. Two months later and that's still the case for me when I eat certain things.

I wish. More worried about getting back to work and to quit relying on others to help with the little guy.

My wife had this done 3 weeks ago. No major issues other than trying to figure out what she can eat without having to shite right away. She was sore for a few days but nothing too major.

Thanks for the insight. Sounds like some slow improvement and gradually getting better over the next few days barring any setbacks.

Hope she recovers quickly. Soreness will last a while. NSAIDS will help with that.

Yeah, it was a real test of strength, for sure.

But really, it's just to illustrate that the recovery time (usually) isn't a bother. Just be smart and don't do anything to get the incisions infected or torn, and you're golden.
