So the wifey and I (no pics) are looking for a new couch. We found one we liked at Gallery Furniture and negotiated price but then came the "furniture protection plan pitch. $399 to coat the couch in protective coating for stains and they will come out and clean it if it does or replace it.

Then the inhouse repairs $299 in case any threads come unraveled or parts break.

My BS went off but thought I would put it out there. Yes or no? I'll hang up and listen.

You must have a very unruly household to need $700 worth of insurance on a couch.

Solid investment. If you have a HotWife you'll inevitably need a place to sleep that is up to par while your lady gets bored out by BBC.

Read the fine print and have them describe, in detail, how the program works. It's a PITA.

First off, how much is the sofa you bought? Protection plans usually run roughly 10% of the cost of the furniture. So unless you paid 4k, you're getting fricked.

The protection plans I am aware of does not include them "coating" anything. It's a dry warranty meaning if you were to get any kind of stain or rip/tear, they send someone to your home to repair. Any chemical (scotch guard) you put on your furniture, will void your manufacturers warranty.

Whom ever is trying to pull this on you is playing a shell game with you as the fool. I would go buy somewhere else, this is absurd and I guarantee the furniture is overpriced if they are doing this to you.MANY places sell the same brand of furniture and it can be ordered delivered from numerous stores identical to what they are grabbing you for on line from a multitude of vendors in and around High Point NC. Google is your friend my friend.

They had two plans. In home service and their furniture guard (where they put a coating on the furniture that is supposed to be an oil base)

All seem like BS and the furniture is about $3000 for a sectional sofa.

Just be aware of getting someone to service your furniture if something would go wrong if you bought online. Also, prices may be cheaper online, but once you add shipping and shite, is it really worth it not to have someone you can contact locally to address any problems should they arise?
