French Quarter Fest
Posted by Bham4Tide on 4/1/16 at 5:54 pm00
Hey guys, thinking about coming down to see my brother next week in N.O. and I noticed the French Quarter Fest is going on. What do you guys think of it? And, is it ok to bring my 10-year-old son (who plays an instrument himself)?

Definitely a good idea to bring your kid. Go in the afternoon.

The French Quarter Fest is the best festival in La. and La. has a ton of them. There are places in the Quarter specifically for kids, of all ages. If he enjoys music, this is the festival for him, as there are, literally, bands set up all over the Quarter, along the river & over by the Aquarium. A lot of the major restaurants have tents set up in & around Jackson Square, even POB's has a tent. Great music. Weather should be good as well. It will be crowded, most of the hotels are all sold out, but it is family friendly crowd. Come on down & enjoy.

One of my favorite festivals. Although it's gotten much more crowded in recent years. Great daytime stuff to do with your kid. Just bring lots of cash to get food, because you're going to want to eat everything you see.

There's a reason everyone is saying it's crowded. Because it is. If the weather is nice prepare yourself.

It is my favorite festival in New Orleans. Has been getting more and more packed over the past couple of years, but it's still fun and the food is good. Kids will have fun, but you're probably gonna end up telling him why he can't go to the aquarium.
Take a break to eat and people watch in Jackson Square

The main idea behind it is that it is free

Go for sure and bring the kid. I brought my two and two of their friends last year and it was great. Can see plenty of great stages along river or spots in the quarter not on Bourbon.
There is a kids craft tent and some kids themed stages and other activities along the river.
