At least someone has balls.

quote:

The mayor of a seaside town on the French Riviera is sticking by his town's burkini ban, telling beachgoers, "if you don't want to live the way we do, don't come."

"You have to behave in the way that people behave in the country that accepted you, and that is it," Cogolin Mayor Marc Etienne Lansade told CNN.

Amen to that guy.

I wish America would do the same.

You want to live here? You adapt to US. Not the other way around.

Why is that banned?

If anything, it helps protect against skin cancer.

Whats the issue with the Burkini? its just clothing. Are we being forced to wear what the government says now?

ETA, Doesnt sharia law dictate dress as well. Or we could just be like the north koreans

Im not pro muslim on most issue but I do not get this at all. It is decent and it is a religious belief for them. They are not hurting anyone by wearing the burkina.

I see them in Panama City every now and then and it just gives me a heads up to look for a bomb on the back of the jet ski. I like it when they wear things that allow us to identify them.

Why do you disagree Salmon?

Enclaves and failure to assimilate is why stupid ideas like burkini bans are going to get more French citizens killed.

you mean flat bills and baggy pants or wife beaters, camo cargos and crocs?

I think I might prefer a burkini.

While I agree with the overall message, why is the Burkini the main thrust of it? So, someone wearing anything less revealig than a damn speedo gets a ticket? How asinine is that?

They shouldn't be worried about ticky-tacky bullshite like what people wear to the beach and instead focus on violent crime, people who refuse to work, rape, freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and the rights of women. Harping on the way they dress for a day in the sun just plays into the radical's hands.

And just like that, I totally switched sides of this argument.

what is a "burkini" ban doing? nothing

it solves nothing

I certainly think they should assimilate to a degree, but when we start legislating dress, I have issues

This isn't America, not every country is based on complete freedom. Many countries have culture with 1000s of years of history and prefer to keep it that way. I wouldn't support it in the USA, but I can fully support someone like France wanting people to assimilate into their culture and not change things.
