Flying to Frankfurt tonight and will have about a day to burn before I meet up with my company Sunday morning.
Any must do's? Bars, restaurants, historical places etc.

Put on a yarmulke and head over to the train station to greet the new arrivals from Syria.

Go to Romerburg Square and hang around. The Cathedral is right there. We did not eat at any gourmet restaurants in Frankfurt and there is not as much to see there as there is in other major European cities, but I remember having a good time just strolling along the riverfront and having beer and a casual meal in the outdoor cafes on the Square. The beers, sausages and other local delicacies were delicious with one exception. Stay away from the apple wine.

I did an 8 hour layover there recently and took the train to city center. There's some nice shops and parks in the downtown area but be careful because there's some rough areas around it. Sorry that's all I have. Based on the areas I visited Frankfurt is not one of the nicer German towns.

When you get in, go to lufstansa arrivals lounge and shower if you flew up front.
Go to information and ask how you can get a train to city center (haupwatche station NOT Hoppanhaufph). On we you arrive at haupwatche you can stroll around town and see the sights. Pretty new city post ww2. Cathedral is cool. Lots of cool restaurants (casual) on the square. Enjoy.

I'd probably head down to the Romer area and drink some beer. The area around the hauptbahnhof is kind of shady (also the red light is there), but if you are pressed for time, there are some cool shops and bars in that area.

I remember you saying you went there and saw some hippie festival. Also didn't you get off train at hoppenhopfh (main train station just outside town) and not Haupwatche (city center)?
I'm asking bc I found frankfurt to be be pretty nice with lots of hot girls. You seemed to have a different experience.

hauptbahnhof** (or "hbf" for short auf Deutsche)
ETA: could always take the train (or meinfernebus, for value fares) to Heidelberg for the day. Beautiful town, should be reachable within roughly an hour by car or train from Frankfurt...

If he wants to drive some, go to Heidelberg. About an hour south of Frankfurt.
