Ford F-150: 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 foot size bed?

I'm trying to make up my mind here. I'm leaning towards the 5 1/2. I drive in the city often and I'm thinking the shorter bed would make parking easier. But I'm sure there will be times when I wish I had the 6 1/2 when hauling junk.

Pros and Cons. Any regrets with your choice?

With the 6 and half, there will be times you wish you had an 8.

Just get the 5 and half and the bed extender for the rare time you need more space.

I would rather not have an F150 attached to my truck bed.

6 1/2 just looks goofy. Like a work truck.

Definitely the Tundra, Ram, or Silverado.

Get a 6 1/2 foot bed if you plan on using it as a truck.

6 and a half needs to be a 4wd and at the very least leveled with 33's to look good.

Shorter bed definitely looks better though.

I've had both for work company vehicles. Have the short bed now and other than parking being easier with the short bed I would take the long bed in a heartbeat over the short bed. That 1ft of bed space is invaluable.

ETA: that is with the assumption that you are going to put a toolbox or something like that in the bed.

If youre going to be parallel parking or parking in short spaces a lot then get the short bed. You can always buy a small utility trailer for times when you need the haul.

I went this route with my truck decision. I bought a 7-seater SUV and put a full length roof rack on it and a hitch for my 16' utility trailer. I never want for anything. My immediate family, friends and extended family can all fit in and go to events together or I can haul my immediates and folks from out of town to NOLA for some scenic-routing. I can haul just about anything with my tandem axle 16' trailer and for just picking up like a few 10' or 12' 2-bys or a sheet or 3 of plywood I can throw it on top of the roof rack and not have to hook up the trailer. Its really the best of all worlds.

When did Ford go to a 6.5 foot bed as their SB? I remember back when GM had a 6.5' and Ford had a 7'...but that was back in the day.

I'll never again have a 5.5 ft bed on a truck.

If you're planning on getting a toolbox get the long bed. Otherwise short bed

Just buy a Minivan. Plenty of room for your purse.

I think with a longer bed and wheel base you increase your stabilization with towing.

If towing is something you'll do a lot, compare the different models.
