TRUTH!

You should see the cost of a Living trust/will/POA that these guys do for the codgers. Crazy.

I've discussed a prenup with my SO. We will be engaged soon enough. I'm a high earner and she plans on having her own business with her sister. I just think it's best.

And let's be honest, guys get fricked in the court system.

Also, I technically don't own it yet. I would inherit it once my father passes.

Does that make a difference?

She still signed something saying she would have no right to it under any circumstance or something like that. I am no lawyer.

Sidenote: Her parents have put me in charge of their finances in their will once they pass. They have 2 daughters and neither knows anything about money management. Sadly, they are not rich . It'd just be a house we'd sell most likely and life insurance money.

nothing technical about it. not yours. Dad could squander his share before he dies.

Either way, not community property, but the ladeez can surely be demanding in a divorce/property settlement.

as stated earlier, prenups are generally not necessary for 90% of the population.

I got married 2weeks ago and over the weekend i combined our finances all into one place. after loans/debt/cc balance/retirement savings, we are worth $6200.

prenup entirely not necessary for us.

although i was worth $24000 as a single man.

A marriage at its essence is nothing more than a contract. I see no problem adding amendments.

Well wouldn't that suck

I think him and his family have a contract in place that says nothing can be sold unless all members agree to it or something. Basically, none of it will ever be sold

why?

because there wasn't a pren-up to avoid lengthy arbitration that would have caused her and her ex much stress headache and financial loss and lined attorneys (such as Mung advising against pren-ups. Don't worry, if it was to my financial benefit to have clients without pre-nups I would advise against them as well.) pockets the longer they draw out the proceedings.
