we have a platinum one about 5 minutes from me and thinking of getting a membership for the summer for the family. did a tour yesterday and it is pretty nice, just wondering if you think its worth the costs?

also did you haggle with the upfront fees? ive heard they are very used car salesman like when it comes to costs.

TIA

I joined a gold one a few years ago and they didn't haggle at all on price. Not sure where you heard that from.

I had a membership when I lived in Houston. I did nth have any problems with it. Didn't find that it cost more than other gyms.

Been a member at the location in South Austin for 3 or 4 years and love it. You are correct, avoid spending the lifetime bucks as the trainers are always trying to upsale.

Have had friends quit because the management presses the staff to hit numbers.

Great facility but avoid any interaction with the trainers.

Its a health club and not just a gym. Big you are going to use it just to lifts weights your probably better off paying less somewhere else. If you want the pool, racketball and other ammenities, it may be worth it. Although platinum is ridiculously over priced. Red's in laffy is twice as nice and half the price.

Reds is a much better better deal, but twice as nice, lol

Dude the lifetime I visited was like a country club. You could eat off the floors

I effin hate when trainers walk around interfering with my workouts and critiquing me

I have one and have been a member for about 8 years. Great place. I think the cost is reasonable for what you get.

Worked out at the one in Cinco for about 2 years. It was nice but eventually I gave up when they tried to raise the price again.

I Used to go to the north Austin location for a couple of years. It's great for kids and the family, more like a country club than a gym. For me, it wasn't worth the price because I only used the gym. I didn't touch the pools, rock climbing, classes, or anything.
It got annoying at times too because it's a big social club for the women. They like to stand around talking and sit on the benches that people are waiting to use while they browse Facebook and gossip with their plastic friends.

I love the place. It's usually very clean and a good mix of people. They usually upgrade something every year, like packing in more lockers in the locker room, which is huge for winter months. Mine also gutted a good chunk of the weight area for crossfit activities. Sometimes, I'll just do a light workout and go mainly for the hot tubs and sauna. I could probably shop around and save $10 or $20 a month for something else, but it's worth it to me. Some clubs in our area have tennis, but mine is just gym, pools, and racquetball/basketball.

I have a couple of friends in Dallas that love it.

I will never know, I have a 24 hour fitness membership that is $21 a year for the rest of my life.

I had a membership at the one in Katy, TX and also been to the nicer one in Town & Country a few times. Life Time is extremely nice and worth it if you use all the ammenities. I only went for weights and cardio so I now switched to anytime fitness for a much cheaper price. The talent that works out there is on point though. In the mornings you have all the hot milfs that go and during the summers all the college chicks are back in town

I do know sometimes Lifetime offers a couple promotional periods throughout the year where they will waive the signup fee. That's what I did when I originally got my membership there.
