honestly, that is why I now fly only when absolutely necessary...basically, anything under 8 hours, I prefer to drive...
as far as the flight complications go, you can expect some type of clusterfrick (i.e. lost luggage, cancelled flight, etc.) about every third flight...just accept it for what it is and go with the flow...there is nothing that you or anyone else can do to change it, so accept it as a part of the job and don't let it get you down too much...

Most of my travelling for work is international, so it sucks even more when I'm delayed. Sometimes it puts me back a day or more. I agree with the others who have said it... The best thing to do is to find the nearest bar and just get belligerently drunk.
