I'm from Lafayette and I know the correct, french way is Vehr-row, but I grew up all of my life saying Vehr-Rot. I'm in a pointless debate with someone about this...what say you fellow Lafayette-ans?

Sort of like Carondolet St.

I knew a guy who moved to N.O. from out of state who used to try to correct locals on its pronunciation.

I appreciate the correction on this one because I always assumed it was pronounced Ver-row.

And yet people from Lafayette are very quick to point out "wrong" pronunciations of French names outside of Acadiana.

Pretty sure that road inspired the song "slow Ride" by Foghat. I read it on the internet. LINK

I saw that link and decided to ask on here...seems like the same result, majority is "Vehr-Rot". I just never heard it pronounced "Vehr-Row" until recently by people I thought were trying too hard to be "frenchy".
