re: For all those with single digit IQs on Jones Creek

You literally just proved my point. Why limit yourself to 1 lane when there are multiple lanes to use up until your merger point
Because at the merger point, there is no option. The merge must take place, or cars must stop. Stopping is obviously bad. Whereas beginning your attempt to merge earlier gives you ample opportunity to get over without having to stop. someone doesn't let you in or you just can't, you still have another shot. Wait till the last second and you and the person next to you will be wayyyyyyyy more likely to have to come to a crawl for you to get over.
It may be that human nature is a cause, but I'd say that's still a big factor and you will never work it out of the equation.

There are so many ways to almost totally avoid Jones Creek. No way would I try to travel it from Tiger Bend to Coursey or vice versa right now.

This is objectively false.
If ask for proof of this, but I already know you're not going to provide any.

Thanks for proving me right. All you've said is "I drive so I know stuff."

bayoubengals88 this applies to Hwy 42 drivers in Prairieville as well

And you've don nothing but piggyback off someone more intelligent on the subject matter than yourself, all the while being wrong with your conclusions. Then when someone questions you for any evidence, you call names and say nothing more than "I drive, so I know." You aren't fooling anyone.

quote:Hi lnchbox.
But cutting cars into the merge lane at the end doesn't help anyone get where they need to be.
Wrong. Using as much capacity of the roadway as possible speeds everything up.
It absolutely does not. Every car must pass by that one spot. It does nothing at all good.

You're the guy attacking whens someone asks you to back up your claim. If something is "objectively false," you should be able to easily show that. We both know you can't, which is why you're just shitting out insults instead of actually saying anything relevant.

I'm sure that was much funnier in your head.

Congrats, that's as useful as anything else you've said in this thread.

When you know the lane is closed a mile ahead because of construction or whatever, and everybody else has moved over, and you zoom all the way up to where the barricade is, I'm not letting you in. Sorry.
That makes you an idiot

The bottleneck is already there
So you increase the distance of the bottleneck?
Way more efficient

Hi lnchbox.
Your conclusions there are wrong. There is more to account for besides the one spot where everyone must pass.

They just have a rule of thumb or chart to go off of. So when I keep hearing "it's the most efficient", but there's no detailed fundamental explanation as to why that makes the zipper appreciably more efficient
It's not hard to understand. The farther back the zipper happens, the longer an unnecessary single lane is created, the longer the line extends back through previous intersections, etc. etc.

Have you ever joxied? Are really this lacking in self-awareness? Do you have a disability you are not disclosing? Please, take your time.

i've posted about zipper merging in 3 or 4 threads in the past. Sited articles, numbers, facts, etc., but it doesn't do any good. Nevertheless...
