Was going to post on the movie board, but it's discussed fairly regularly here.

Just watched a doc called "The Nightmare" all about sleep paralysis. Really interesting as it's something I've never experienced.

I've seen a commercial for a new sleep medication and one of the side effects is sleep paralysis. That shite is so scary that it's enough for me to never ever try that medicAtion.

Imagine being completely awake yet having no control over your body even to the point where you can't open your eyes. I've heard entire conversations around me and tried to scream but couldn't.

I get them every once in awhile, they are no fun at all. Had them more often as a child, once I got used to them, they weren't nearly as bad. As a young child, they would scare the shite out of me

It's fricking scary when I am having a dream that someone is in my house, or something similar where I need to get up and I'm paralyzed.

It doesn't happen to me all the time, but it's a terrifying situation to deal with.

What if I told you sleep paralysis was actually what the people who experience it think it is during the moment?

Everytime I fall asleep when I am worn out from work. I always doze off for like 2 mins and low an behold a fricking scary arse dream. Why can't I doze off and like get surrounded by hot women with big tits or something.

Had it a few months ago. It was pretty terrifying. Couldn't imagine dealing with that almost every night

If you realize what is happening, it's more annoying more than anything. I usually try to wiggle my toes and that seems to help a bit

I had the scariest arse dreams about 4 months ago. I would doze off(in my bed) and soon as I would these arms and hands from under my bed would start grabbing me. I could feel myself trying to tell me it is just a dream wake up but I couldn't wake up. I even saw my gf laying next to me in these dreams and I was trying to get her to wake me up. This shite happened 3 times in one night. I would wake up each time after each short episode paranoid as a motherfricker. Only time that has ever happened to me. My gf still tells me about that night because she saw it in my eyes how paranoid I was.

I've had sleep paralysis in a dream but not when I was awake. I have had a hypnopompic hallucination of Ronald Reagan's head in my bed on the pillow next to me.

I am glad I only had that one night. I was paranoid like crazy for a least a couple days after my nightmarish night.

Just woke up after having this happen to me again. Happens to me once or twice a week, and usually happens just after I fall asleep or right before the time I usually wake up. It happens to me so often that I have learned there are things I can still do to get my wife's attention. I can grunt and breath heavily while I'm paralyzed, and she knows if she hears this to start shaking me until I wake up. I always realize what is going on so it has become easier to keep my cool over time though

Happens to me a few times a year. A lot of times it is during a nightmare.

I have these. All I can do is moan with incredible effort and hope whatever is coming for me does not get me. I have read that sleeping on your side or stomach helps and this turns out to be true for me. Wiggling toes helps too.
