Would definitely do a week in Sanibel/Captiva before Key West unless it was strictly a fishing trip.

Going to Key West next Wednesday. Only staying 3 days then headed to Fort Myers for 13 days. Already been to Key West and its a blast but agree with everyone that after a couple days youve seen it all.
ETA theres a bunch of different beaches a shirt drive away from fort Myers to enjoy if you consider this route. We love we've been going for the past 4 years.
