Three major cities in Louisiana are listed among a US State Department Refugee Public Affiliate Directory which supposedly contains a list of 180 cities in the country where 10,000 Syrian refugees may be resettled. According to a report by the Federalist Papers, Baton Rouge, Lafayette (which is also considered a “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants) and Metairie are all listed on a Migrant and Refugee Services (MRS) directory. The list below contains the MRS centers which are run by Catholic charities in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Metairie. The Catholic charities, though, do receive grant money from the U.S. Department of State/Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration.

If you escaped a war torn country and came to the US, you would be a hard working member of society and not a leech. I welcome them, its what makes America great. Stop with the nativism.

They've been doing this for a long time. They'd have no more than 50-100. In a city of over 150k. You wouldn't notice.

Yeah because no one in this country is in need...

Catholic Charities, and my BR parish as well, have over time welcomed refugees to the area and assisted in their acclimation efforts. I'm talking less than 30 people in the last 10 years.
While I know Matt is looking for a hysteria article, I'd be very shocked to see Catholic Charities BR welcome a significant number, because they'll only allow what their resources can handle.

Catholic Charities, in particular, helps more of the poor in this country already than any other charity.

Tell me what hard working, productive members of society they are in europe, displacing native peoples and demanding the local culture change and stressing the welfare net.

I doubt many people in the US have been bombed out of their home.
Don't get me wrong, this is an issue that needs to be debated and informed policy makers definitely need to make informed decisions about these asylee seekers but your argument doesn't really stand up.

Relocate them to North BR. I don't see the problem.

Arguably a very different situation.
