First time taking a cruise. Will have the wife and two teenage kids. Carnival cruise ship Elation out of NO. 5 night. To Cozumel and Merida.
Need everyone's tips and tricks for the cruise and opinions on excursions at each stop.
Bought the liquior package for myself and I have been told that if I registor my wife in the cabin the kids will be in, that we should be able to share. Thoughts?

Don't do excursions. Stay on the boat while everyone gets off and you'll have the whole thing to yourself. And you'll save money too.

Progreso is horrible

I don't know if I'd rather sit on a boat or get off there

Cozumel is cool, just go there and forget the cruise

Can we just get off the boat and go to the beach at each stop?

Liquior pass is $250 each.

If you're not in a suite bring a power cord with extra plug/ins. Our room had ONE electrical outlet. Liquor package - we were told if one adult in the room buys it, they all buy it. Cannot be shared. We were on the Elation at the beginning of June.

It's a good time as long as you and the wife have a grand suite. Stick the kids in an interior room.

Go to Chenkanaab Park in Cozumel. As for booze? The cruise is cheap enough. Just drink what you want and pay for it.

There will be a lot of people on there that look like they just walked out of the Chalmette Wal Mart. That being said, my wife and I took the Elation for a quick getaway last year and had a blast. We relaxed on the back of the boat and watched the water go by. After the first night, we skipped the sit down dinners.
It's nice because you don't have to wait to get on an airplane. Just park at the parking garage, go thru security, get on the boat and get a drink.

We actually did the same. The formal dinners were nothing special IMO.
