These people need to start getting called out. Milked the dog for attention, especially during its puppy phase. Man up and own up to your commitments, people.

Better they get rid of it than the dumbfricks who leave it behind inside a dwelling to starve or dehydrate to death.

Yep, they dump them on the road on the way out of town. POS

Better that they have dogs than kids.

A disgusting group of people. I agree 100%. I have never purchased a dog, but found a discarded pup when living in Starkville. Raised her myself. It's 100 times worse in university towns at the end of semesters.

Had a neighbor that moved out of a rent house. He left the dog in the fenced in yard with no food/water.

That is fricked up. I take pride in the fact that after 12 years of marriage all I got was a rusted out grill and a handicapped miniature pincher runt puppy my daughter found. My ex dropped them off and moved away. Grill fell apart and I still got that handicapped dog. I don't give up on animals. Fact

Absolutely. People who do this use the moving as an excuse to get rid of the dog. There are PLENTY of places you can move and bring a dog (even a big one) or cat or whatever with you. Yes, it probably requires some kind of deposit but I would pick up a 2nd job if I had to or beg for money before I got rid of my dog or cat. They are family. These people don't think of the animals as family and those kind of people are heartless as far as I am concerned. If you can't care for a dog then you can't be trusted with a child or any other human for that matter.

I can sometimes understand it. What if a guy gets a Saint Bernard but gets the opportunity of a lifetime that requires he moves to London? No way he can take the dog out there. There are instances where this is acceptable.

Yes I agree. As long as the owner does make arrangements to move the animal to a suitable home. The pound is the last last option. Just sad when this happens

I have found this in more than one repo house. Most recent was a few dead cats the people locked in the house when they lost it.

ETA: I called the cops on one guy for leaving his two old dogs in the garage during a real harsh winter. They could roam and come back because it was an open garage but they had no water or food. He got tickets for animal cruelty and the dogs went to a no kill shelter.

Then there's always the we need to get rid of our dog because we have a baby on the way......I get that more than the moving excuse obviously.

But damn man....didn't really think things through eh? Didn't train and socialize the dog so that its baby appropriate?

Like I said....I get it baby>>dog .... but still seems at least a little shitty.
