Fair or Foul
Posted by ztro4 on 3/6/15 at 11:15 pm10
Friend of mine is having a bday party for his boy tomorrow. I am leaning on not going (my wife is still gonna go and take a present). One, it will be during the LSU Arkansas game. 2, he said nobody can drink until kids and his wife's family leaves.
Not how I want to spend my Saturday.

Just tell him your sick or something, I wouldn't expect any of my friends to come to my kids bday party.
Eta: I'm married with 4 kids, therefore don't really have any friends

Last weekend at my house: 4 year old bday party, beer, Lsu basketball. Why can't your friend do all three?
Just pop by for a bit, say Happy Birthday and give him the gift. Nobody is saying you have to be there the entire time, and while I think the drinking rule is stupid, if you can't go that long without a beer I dunno what to tell you.
I'll never understand people that ask questions like this. You're a fricking adult, you can do what you want. Will there be consequences? Yeah, but it's up to you to measure if it's worth it or not.

Smoke a joint before, maybe grab a Xanax

Really? You're an adult that has posted 33,000 times on this site alone. It's the off-topic lounge. He wasn't asking what he should do....he Lready made the decision. He's just asking other peoples opinion of essentially what they would do.
He should put down the bottle and you should put down the keyboard

So you can't go a couple of hours without an alcoholic beverage?
