If you take on climbing Everest you should have to sign something saying you're aware no money will be spent on a rescue party.

Extreme environments can be life-threatening. Well isn't that the damnedest thing.

Nobody has learned anything. It's not the most difficult nor most dangerous mountain, but it's too popular and too easy to get to. It attracts people who have no business being there.

Pretty much everyone knows the risks and I doubt they are asking for sympathy. Though perhaps they are asking for sympathy from mother nature.

It's been this way for a long time. The mountain has become a commercialized, tourist attraction.

Damn just saw that one woman who died was with her husband and he's probably right behind her

quote:

On Saturday, efforts were being made to transport Dr Strydom's body down thousands of metres of brutal terrain after severe altitude sickness caused fluid to swell in her brain, while her husband continues to battle against a build-up of fluid in the lungs.

The couple had successfully reached Camp Four, 400 metres below the summit by Friday, satellite pings posted online from their phones reveal

Its not even an an accomplishment anymore. It's like a dude ranch for climbers until the summit push when it becomes a crapshoot of death against weather and dumbasses who make terrible decisions.
