seems like most people never have a history of them, then low and behold undergo one in their later years.

Anybody care to describe what they are like ? Or what precautions you take to lessen the likelihood of one

There are animals you can train to recognize when it's about to happen so you have time to get away from sharp objects and whatnot.

I don't think so.

I occasionally get these episodes where I lose time for just a moment. It sounds weird, but it feels like your brain just sneezed or something.

I had an epileptic seizure about 10 years ago in the doorway of Walmart. Have no memory what happened during the seizure. Fell on the back of my head. Funny thing is my shorts had a hole in the crotch area and my balls were hanging out while I was shaking.

I'd probably try to help out in a situation like that and be a good Samaritan, but the balls thing would keep me walking.

I had some weird, minor seizures over the course of a few months, during my last year at LSU. I'd get disoriented and have a really strong experience of Déjà vu. It was unsettling and would cause me to feel extremely nauseated.

I didn't know at the time that they were seizures until I had a grand mal during finals week. I was studying at a desk in my bedroom while my girlfriend watched Dawson's Creek (It was 1998).

Last thing I remember, I got that crazy Déjà vu feeling and felt dizzy, so I laid my head on my desk and woke up 4 hours later in the emergency room.

My girlfriend said she thought I was messing with her because I started moaning and quickly banging my head, repeatedly on my desk. She said I leaned back and my eyes were rolled back and I started vomiting and then fell back onto the floor.

I've never had a seizure since.

I guess I was lucky that I wasn't driving at the time.

Should have sued wal mart bro. Their air conditioning doorway change in temperature caused you physical harm, public shame, anxiety, etc

Not seizure related but I saw a Great Dane today that had an impressive set of cods.

My wife has had like 2 major ones. It's the scariest thing you'll ever see in your life. One time it was in the middle of the night, and another time, we were in the car on the way to Houston. She's been to doctors, neurologists, etc. Nobody can tell her why or how she has them. She's on a med called Lamictol and it controls it, but it's some scary shite.

Had an ex who was on a lot of prescription meds go without them and fall into one. Full on violent seizure, I was with her as it happened and saw she was biting her tongue. In the moment all I could do was work my hand into her mouth to bite instead till it passed.

Crazy bitch.

Don't want to alarm you but look up something called temporal lobe epilepsy. I have it. Scary stuff.

I had rolandic epilepsy as a child (you grow out of it). It only happened while I slept. I had one instance (my first one) where I woke up in a daze and told my parents I wasn't feeling good, then blacked out. Woke up to my dad freaking the eff out. I was about 5-7 years old so I don't remember much about it. Just did EEG's and bloodwork at the hospital all the time till I grew out of it.

Most people don't remember having a seizure. A person with a first time seizure should be seen in the emergency room for CT, as this could be sign of something life threatening, like an intracranial bleed.
But there are many things that can cause a one time seizure that are benign.
A seizure disorder prevents you from getting a drivers license. people who have this must be seizure free for 1 year before they can get their license back.

I had two very bad seizures and was stuck in a Puerto Rican stinkhole hospital for three days. Don't remember a thing for the first two days. They suck.

I had one at 14 while in the shower. Last thing I remember was washing my hair and then blacked out. My dad heard me fall and came running in and found me. The doctor said I had a type of epilepsy that was hereditary and that I would outgrow. My aunt had something similar. My dad believes it was the flea powder we put on our dog.
