Depends on the complexity of the install and the quality and efficiency of the HVAC unit spec'd.

At least $10k, probably $12-13k

Thinking a pair of three-ton split systems

That would be around $7200. The ductwork is where i get shaky.

With ductwork in a preexisting , not new construction, house? That seems low IMO. The ductwork alone is going to labor intensive and cost some money.

I had a A/C and furnace put in a flip the other day in a house that had everything but the copper line set and I had two bids come in at $7K for a 2.5 ton.

You are prolly going to have to upgrade the electric service panel to the house. Is this a rental or a live in?

If you could be in this house personally for a while go ahead and at least consider to spec a generator friendly electrical service panel while you are upgrading. It will be $200-$300 more but if you don't a generator hookup will be expensive in the future.

Duct work is not expensive and nether are the boxes and registers for that matter. Cost wise it's about 50 bucks a drop DIY. I hate when contractors make a task that's not that difficult sound like a monumental task. Even worse is the charging by the ton shite. You can have 5 tons on a house with few large rooms or the same size hous with a bunch of small rooms.

Is that a legit price? I got a first quote today on a three ton and a two ton unit, and it was $10,500.
