I'll start by saying I work in a small department/grocery store. I have been there for 7 months. I am shocked by the behavior of many of our customers.
There is an unbelievable amount of shoplifters, mostly kids who are there with their parents, but many adults and the parents themselves steal.
They come to the counter with a buggy full, then after ringing it all up, they start to cherry pick certain items they no longer want.
If the total is $16.38, and they have a $20 in hand, they will turn to other customers in line begging for the 38 cents. Many times they will say "I will go and get the change out of the car" instead of paying with the $20.
Leaving the buggy directly in front of the counter, or leaving the hand basket on the counter is common for them.
They eat food and candy constantly, throwing wrappers on the floor. Their kids wreck the store, and parents don't care. They change diapers in the store, stuffing diapers behind items on the shelf.
These are regular customers, basically the bread and butter of the business, so it is overlooked for the most part.
Yeah, I'm a lowly employee of a dollar store, pretty pathetic I know, Lol, but I had no idea people behaved this badly,1 woman pissed on the isle, lmao

Not to mention gum in the urinals. Right?

unfortunately, this is the society in which we live...no point in fretting over it, as it has always been that way.
sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders...stay at it and make good decisions and you will do well in life.

Hey man, never be ashamed of work, regardless if others might look down on you. There are plenty of useless fricks out there who do nothing at all.

I buy my reading glasses at Dollar General because I'm like Fred Sanford and have them everywhere and they have good cheap ones. It always amazes me at how bombed out the stores look. And not from an employee standpoint.
