Entergy needing access to backyard / meter.

I recently fenced in a section of my back yard in lakeview. Meter is now in locked fenced backyard. Entergy states they need access. Do you work with them and leave a key out for them to access or not lock the gated backyard now? What does the OT recommend.
eta: there are things I would not like stolen out of my backyard currently.

That's what you get for living in trashy lakeview

Telling them to call you for an appointment and then give them a 5 hour window of when you will be there.

Don't lock. If something stolen, buy another one. You're on the OT man.

Tell them they have to contact first when they want access.
They recently entered my parent's yard without asking while my mom was home. She looked up to see some random dude in her backyard. It didn't turn out well for that ol boy. She was PISSED. He was lucky that the dog was in the house at the time.

have them install a meter that has remote access, moms had it done on her property.

draw a plat and sell them an easement giving them access. You still own the property

They have wireless meters. Had one installed.

Will do.

They can send you an estimated bill for up to 3 months, then they're legally able to send you notice and suspend service if you don't open the gate and allow them access to read the meter.

They do mine from the servitude behind my locked gate somehow. Just call the company.

You're playing right into Obama's hands. Now he's watching your every move. Also, I heard those give you cancer.

If they have a pole back there, they already have an easement.

You do know that people that do this for a living carry mace . I know a meter reader that said he would mace the dog if it came anywhere near him even if it appeared friendly. Better safe then sorry.
